Instead of targeting one particular hospital and doctors...
What we need in india is to think on a larger scale and address the abject quality of healthcare and get reforms for health care quality and think beyond just COST!

While cost is important in country like India, what I have seen is that a lot of wrong-doings and neglect is being done under the pretense of cutting down costs in hospitals.
1. We need LAWS to make DOCTORS accountable for actions. Only in India i see that doctors are not afraid to make mistakes that cost lives and take it as a learning experience. Indian patients are not lab rats that they use to experiment and learn.
Currently the laws are heavily pro doctors and the patients cannot get any justice in case of wrong doing because the onus is on the patient to prove wrong doing and doctors are a very strong union that wont testify against each other.

2. We need STRICT REGULATIONS for private hospitals which cut corners and quality that compromise patient health to make PROFIT. (not to reduce cost to patient - that is just used as an excuse to oppose any law that the govt introduces)
Currently the clinical establishment act is very weak and is only adopted half hazard manner in a very few Indian states

3. Healthcare education is pretty pathetic compared to International standards.
3a. Licensing for doctors should be revised so that they need to give exams like they have in US to renew their license to ensure that patient is not dying because the doc has not updated his knowledge.
3b. MD internal medicine should be a minimum to practice as a family physician, MBBS in itself should be scrapped for licensing and nothing less than an MD should be licensed to practise as is the case in western nations.

Raj Sharma I also took my father for oral carcinogenic surgery in Fortis Noida for which estimate given was 3 lakh but on the 2nd day we got the call that the estimate has gone over. They kept my father in ICU for 7 days on the pretext that there was lot of swelling and so life support was needed. This gave us a lot of tension as his condition looked very serious on life support.B ut they kept on saying two liners that he is o.k. It's just because of swelling we have kept him in ICU.Moreover doctor are full of arrogance in Fortis. They even don't talk properly. After 7 days in ICU they said that swelling is not going away so we will do tracheostomy. A junior doctor said that in hospitals like Dharmshila they do tracheostomy on the day of surgery if they feel the need but here we wait for swelling to go on its own. Finally, we were lucky to get safely discharged with bill of 6 lakhs due to a week in ICU while the initial estimate of 3 lakhs was given. In that too doctor said I have helped you in getting the bill reduced by charging less for my fees and also using cheaper medicines and drips in the last couple of days in place of costly ones being used earlier. Such a big business it has become
I took a resolve never to go to Fortis after a small incident. I was suffering from persistent cough from 2-3 weeks without fever, and thought of going to doctor to take some medicine. The doctor advised to get dengue test done which cost me a good 9000 RS. Even a layman like me knew it can't be dengue if I survived 3 weeks without bodyache and fever. I can't imagine the trauma once your loved ones is in their hands
Ask me ..another sufferer. .my daughter was in ICU Fortis Gurgaon ater 8days admission- struggling for her life. .very sure the docs had shown negligence on their part..as if waiting for getting the condition critical to reach their unlimited target. .shame on such an elite hospital. .people are actually trapped by its name with maximum international footfall but I can quote the docs in particular with their rude and inhumane statements when i wept seeing the unattended and casual attitud there. ..the hospital that claims to be a caring one FMRI.Gguegaon .the big brand name is just an eye wash -they not only loot you but exhibit their most inhumane character as well. .to add cherry to
your pain they would never forget to ask if you have mediclaim or not. .when you are absolutely perturbed with your critical situation _ the so called most noble profession has actually turned to money making business ONLY. .and ask us the pain we received at the end...they know to play with the situation and emotions. .We lost our angel on 4 September evening. .she was in icu beside Adya's bed under the same team of doctors
