Internet has become a necessity of living but also it brings the risk of being victimised by thousands of attractive schemes and propositions.
We give below the details of a fraud being conducted by an #Ecommerce Company in collision with #DMA/DSA of #SBI Cards.
I get a call on my mobile, Callers introduces himself as call from SBI credit card deptt. He tells the card no, name & address to gain confidence. Then he says that SBI is offering a life time discount of 20 % on all purchases if a payment of 6500/- is made. Being consumer organization decided to gain the experience and catch hold of culprits involved in these online frauds.
We Sent acceptance and allowed for the debit of 6500/-. No confirmation thereafter from their side and even SBI CC online system. Then started discussion with SBI customer care Nodal officer & Appellate but did not get response. We finally raised a complaint with #CMD, with a threat to file an FIR if all details of the company to whom payment has been credited are not provided to us. Extensive Correspondence finally revealed that the DSA called on behalf of an online company New Bazaar. Tried to call the company on the phone no. given on website www.newbazar.in (which has closed down now), some lady speaks and says that her husband has gone to the fields. Then tried to book a product on COD as did not want to lose further money. Got No response. Tried after 3 months, still the same.
We then wrote to concerned Police station, but no response. Finally had to approach the #commissioner and cyber-crime branch, Delhi & NCR with lot of continuous persuasion the FIR was field and investigation proceeded.
Persuaded for one year when the crime branch got hold of the person involved in Lucknow. Finally the case was settled with recovery of payment due to us and also damages. Thanks to the efforts of cyber-crime branch.
This is being placed on Social Media so as to make people aware that:
- Be careful with SPAM calls from DMA/DSA. Our Government is not able to do anything or protect the consumer.
- Be careful in taking membership of online marketing or E-commerce companies.
- Our Government is not serious enough of catching those who give fake details on websites.
- In case any of you or your associate friend relative has invested in the membership of New Bazar, then please file your complaint /FIR with cyber-crime and seek redressal.
- May write to us and we will try our best to get the relief. #cybercrime #newbazar #onlinefraud
